Michelle Binnie, Somatic Therapist, Counsellor

MA, RCC, AT

Michelle Binnie, based in Nelson, British Columbia, specializes in working with individuals seeking to heal from trauma, anxiety, and depression and those who wish to better understand and transform their relationship dynamics.

Her ideal clients are those who feel stuck in patterns shaped by past experiences and are ready to explore the deeper connection between their emotions, body, and personal stories.

Michelle’s body-based approach integrates cutting-edge insights from neurobiology, attachment theory, and physiology to help clients uncover how past events continue to shape their current lives.

By addressing the ways our nervous system has stored survival responses in the body, she empowers individuals to address old patterns and create space for healing and growth. A common saying in trauma therapy is that we can't change the past, but we can change the way it lives inside of us!

Her somatic therapy approach draws on the European Bodynamics model and her Somatic experiences in North America. She combines these with advanced training in the SRDR model (Developmental Shock Trauma Resolution).

As a leading practitioner in Canada, Michelle’s commitment to ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development ensures she offers her clients the highest level of care.

Through personalized, compassionate guidance, Michelle supports individuals on their journey to reconnect with themselves, heal trauma, and create lasting change in their lives.

Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Clinical Counsellors Association and a Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association member.
